Resurgent Republican Party Picks Up Victories with Urban Voters
Washington, DC: The DC Republican Committee made the following statement regarding the victory of Senator-Elect Scott Brown (R-Massachusetts).
"Scott Brown won last night because he ran on a campaign theme that resonated with the average voter. He talked about the need for more jobs, less taxes and bringing an independent and balanced voice to Washington. Brown did very well in the city of Worcester (2nd largest city in MA), only losing by 1,973 votes out of 38,603 votes cast. He won the cities of Lowell, Quincy, Revere, Plymouth, Barnstable (Kennedy's hometown), Marlborough, Melrose and Peabody. Scott Brown is the latest example of a successful Republican who won because he concentrated on urban voters," stated Robert J. Kabel, Chairman of the DC Republican Committee.
"Massachusetts and District voters are more alike than the DC Democrats Party and officials would like to acknowledge. With severe un-employment in sections of the District and having one of the worst reputations for being job friendly, DC Democrats are making the same mistakes as Massachusetts Democrats. Rather than finding ways to increase employment, DC elected officials have increase taxes that impact every District resident such parking meter fees and the bag tax," concluded Kabel.
